ARTS IN PUBLIC HEALTH.

The Arts are essential to the vitality and quality of life in school, home and community. Art disciplines have the power to transform learning and well-being. ARTS IN PREVENTION
Educators are challenged with classroom learning, knowing that information & education are necessary but insufficient for healthy human development. Creative strategies are equally proving to be essential to the social and physiological development of young people.
Blu Sky Initiative’s holistic approach to education cultivates students’ social-emotional and physical development alongside their academic achievements.
Arts-based learning fundamentals include living in harmony, instilling values such as respect, empathy, equality, kindness, trust, gratitude and honesty, and cultivating qualities such as tolerance, reliance and integrity. These fundamentals to living deepen social equity, encourage team work and conflict resolution, and promote resiliency. They foster healthy relationships, self-esteem, imagination, self-confidence, critical thinking and effective stress management.
Trauma informed education delivered through the arts enhances self-efficacy, fosters creativity, builds reasoning skills, raises self-esteem, and offers a method for contending with stresses and social pressures. Arts programs offer ideal strategies for prevention initiatives
NUTRITION & HEALTHY PRACTICES

BSI programs seek to meet students at their development and awareness levels to cultivate physical well-being, growth, development, and readiness to learn and participate. A variety of arts disciplines, including agricultural and culinary arts, produce the desired outcomes in eating, sleeping and exercise habits that lead to improved health and vitality for our students, their parents and families.
